Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard. It’s a pretty common quote that is used to motivate individuals to sharpen their interest. It’s indeed a sugar-coated quote, but the truth is you can’t deny that those champions out there, value training and hard work very much. Our university, BINUS, understands the importance of achievements, and for that reason, it really pushes and motivates its students not only to study but also radiate their talents. For that reason, the Appreciation Day was born as a way to appreciate those who put their time to compete and win awards.

Appreciation Day becomes one grand annual event organized by their own staff, SCDC. It is a big and magnificent event with a whole new and different concept every time. This year, the Appreciation Day was held in BINUS Anggrek Campus Auditorium on November 28, 2018. As one of the main contributors to BINUS' achievements this year, BNEC was required to send more than 10 delegations as audiences to raise the event's hype.

The awarding activity started with MAWAPRES session, where each faculty delegated one representation as “Mahasiswa Berprestasi”. 3 of the awardees was BNEC’s members who excelled in organizational activities and/or competitions. The event continued with achievements awarding from International Plus to the Regional category.

“From BINUS English Club!”

That’s the sentence said by the MCs through the whole event. From the International Plus category, the award for individuals with more than one international achievement, BNEC’s talents received some of the appreciations. Our talents also filled more than half of the stage in many categories. This means that all of the efforts that drained the sweat of both BNEC’s BoM and talents are really worth it. All the hard work, tears and late-night training were paid off with the joy and laughter shared by the talents, and the proud feeling when they earned the achievement and appreciation.

SCDC’s attempt in making Appreciation Day “pecah” works out. Half of the event was filled with so many amusing and breathtaking performances, like dance, drama, and orchestra performance. The whole 3 hours of excitement came to an end at around 4 PM after all the awardees came, and the whole session finally closed.

Thank you to BINUS University for the appreciation, and most of all, thank you to BNEC’s BoM and Talents for all your effort.
