"Once you choose hope, anything is possible" - Christopher Reeve. On October 13, 2018, Bidang 2 KMBD carried out their annual health and social event, DV Hope. This year, DV Hope carried the theme "Be Their Hope" with a seminar that talks about cancer, especially in children case. To hold this seminar, DV Hope collaborated with YKAKi, a foundation for children with cancer in Indonesia. YKAKi provides shelter, treatments, and school for the children.
This seminar was delivered by three speakers; YKAKi’s administrator, a cancer survivor, and mother of a cancer survivor. They talked about how they fight against cancer. This seminar runs smoothly with audiences paying attention to the event from beginning to end. Not infrequently, the speaker shed tears while recounting their experiences followed by tears of the audience. This event ran for approximately two hours which is closed by the performance by the event committee and also the speakers' certificate handover.
The project officer of DV Hope 2018, Emerson, said that his motivation in conducting this event was to make it as a tribute to his father and aunt who had died because of cancer, as well as one of his family who was a cancer survivor.
BNEC as one of the student organization in BINUS University, was invited to attend this event. Two representatives came to attend this event and were warmly welcomed by the event committee. They were also given a strategic seat so that they could see the whole event well. Finally, BNEC would like to appreciate KMBD’s successful event and thank you for the invitation. See you at the next event, KMBD!
